Where is the best place to retire in Costa Rica? |
Travel Info Where is the best place to retire in Costa Rica? Travel Tips While Costa Rica is a small country, it is still very varied. Your question is very open with no information as to what you want. With that in mind, I will give you my opinions (I am from Seattle currently living in a suburb or San Jose, Costa Rica). First of all, I encourage you to come to Costa Rica and travel around for a while. Then, when you move here you will have an idea as to where you might want to live. When you move here, rent for at least the first year. That will help you on a couple fronts. First, to see if this is really a place where you can live the rest of your life; and second, you will be able to decide more completely where in Costa Rica you want to live and make connections with people who can help you buy. We live in Desamparados, a suburb of San Jose. We have been to several parts of Costa Rica and have decided to be here for a while since it is close to San Jose, yet out of the city. The cost of living here is very low compared to the United States. We live on about $800 a month which includes the rent of our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo and all our other costs. We travel to the sites we want to see, but live where it is safe and where we can get the things we want for our daily lives. Many North Americans live in Escasu and Heredia. You might want to check out those communities. Again, I highly recomment that you first visit and then rent for at least a year before planting your roots! Pura Vida!
