Travel Tips Is the only active volcano in Costa Rica, aruond it you can find many hotels that offer hot springs from the volcano and visit the national park, and many cool experiences. It is located in San Carlos, one of the nearest towns, and the most "developed" is La Fortuna. Make sure you visit it when going to CR!! Others Good answer, however it is not the only active volcano. Poas an Irazu are also active, not to mention other ones. As a matter of fact, the Poas has two craters, one of which is dormant. A similar situation you will find with the Rincon de la Vieja, another active volcano. Wonderful site, I recommend Ecolodge to stay while in Arenal (Tilaran). Dont forget your camera, you might see some amazing volcanic action.. And there is another wonderful volcano you can visit: Poas.. the biggest geyser ever! Arenal Volcano is awesome! During the Costa Rica night you can watch lava flows down the cone. It is a shield volcano, and is active. There are a few places to stay are Arenal, I recommend Tilajari. |
