A good honeymoon location in Costa Rica? |
Travel Info I'm looking to find a place in Costa Rica for my honeymoon. We would like to be on the beach (preferably the Caribbean) and hope to keep the night rate under $100 USD. Any good reccomendations? Travel Tips There is a crime problem in Limon but there really aren't any really nice beaches near the city anyway. Elsewhere in the region, the crime rate isn't much different from many Pacific beaches. For the most part, the Caribbean in Costa Rica is not what American's expect-- no real resort hotels and less development . It has really high surf with rip-tides with the exception of the beach in the park at Cahuita, Punta Uva south of Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. If you like things a little less developed or if you are a surfer, I would recommend the Caribbean side, otherwise I would go to the Pacific. The Caribbean is usually nicest when it is rainiest on the Pacific (Sept-Oct). Get a good guide book like Lonely Planet before you decide. Others I have been living here for 2 years. My wife, a Costa Rican, tells me the east coast is beautiful, but dangerous. There is a definite crime problem here but more so near Limon and that area. Most tourists go to the pacific side. There are many hotels on or near the beach for less then $100 per night. Check out the following link for info on this country as well as toruist links/suggestions. http://www.costarica.com/Home/ ME The Caribbean is less develope, so is better to choose the pacific coast, there are so many option, from the Four Seasons Hotel (choosed like the best beach destination in Latinamerica), to Manuel Antonio (Central Pacific) for me this last is one of the best we have. So look for: Manuel Antonio, Tamarindo, Papagayo or Samara. go to http://www.costaricainfo.com and find more info, ask for Francisco and i will give you the details. Ok, no, I recommend the pacific instead of the caribbean, is raining, and the rain will stop in October. And, the Pacific is much safer, nicer, and sexier for a honeymoon. I recommend a place named Tatanka, in Playa Junquillal, owned by an italian named Giovanni. I stay there every single year. The food is great, the rates low, the ocean wonderful.
