Travel Tips
Costa Rican currency devaluates on a schedule, so it changes daily.

For dinner...hmmm... depends on what youre looking for.In US dollars:

Budget: US$4-$7 (2000-3500 colones) Pretty decent meal, typical dish at low profile restaurant.

Mid-range: $10-$15 (5000-7500 colones) This would be a sit-down restaurant. Semi-formal. Good, international food.

Fancy: Sky is the limit. Wine is expensive here...

Many many places, specially in San Jose, take US dollars. Exchange rate varies, but for a quick calculation 1 US dollar= 500 colones.

Other expenses to give you an idea:

4 hour bus ride to caribbean beach: 4000 colones
10 km taxi in the city: 4000 colones
Beer at bar: 600-1000 colones
Bottled water: 450 colones
Visiting Costa Rica: Priceless...hehe

Some people think Mc Donald`s is a good factor to calculate cost of living:

Big Mac Meal (Big Mac, fries, and Coke) 2020 colones.

Hope this helps!!
