What would you say is your BEST travel tip? |
Travel Info I'm leaving to Costa Rica in August and have started preparing now for my trip Travel Tips Remember that you are a visitor. You will find things may be "backward" to your way of thinking. Every time you think this, you should step back and remember that people think you are backward too. I have been travelling for 13 years, all over the world. Nothing makes me think : "ignorant tourist" more than hearing someone say something like " can you believe the way they.....?" or even worse "well, at HOME we do it this way...." Share your differences, just make sure you do it with respect and diplomacy. Enjoy Latin America... I've just spent 3 years in Colombia and I love it! And take travelers checks, not cash Dont plan out your trip just be spontaneous. I was in Costa Rica in November had a great time! Make a photocopy of the information page of your passport and keep it separate from your passport. If your passport is lost or stolen, having that information will make it easier to get a replacement quickly. Personal experience - I lost my passport in Spain a few years ago and the people at the embassy suggested that I photocopy my replacement in case it happened again. pack light, and get a Citibank account, they have ATM's everywhere that don't charge you, and the money comes out in that country's currency. This gives you the best exchange for your money, and you only have to carry around what you need. I haven't been to Costa Rica, but I've been all over Europe, and I was surprised to find like 8 ATM's in Instanbul alone! |
