Offhand I do not recall a cone there, but the legend goes that a promiscuous priest was in charge of the construction of this church and was murdered there and the three times that the church has been attempted to continue its construction, a power full earthquake has struck the Cartago area so after the third quake all attempts to continue it building were forbidden or so goes the legend perhaps a foto of the cone would help me to an swear your question feel free to E-mail me at pasteleriainglesa@yahoo.com

Maybe you refer to an obelisk built about one block past the ruins? I don't think it has a significance, it's merely decorative.
