Is $450/month for an apartment affordable?

Travel Info
It is located in the town of Escazu and is furnished and includes utilities. I am coming from the U.S. and by affordable, I mean being able to find a job down there that will allow me to pay for it easily with a little extra money. So maybe the more appropriate question would be is how easy would it be to find a job that would allow me to afford it? In the U.S., it's easy to find jobs that pay anywhere from $7-$10/an hour.

Travel Tips
Hey man Escazu is like the Beverly Hills of CR.
Its one of the most expensive places of CR.
I got a 2 bedroom apartment and I pay 70,000 colones a month witch is $136 a month but its in a much more affordable place than Escazu. Yo can find way better deals than that here.
Unless you have enough to pay 6 months or a whole year in advanced that would be cool cause you would know how much you can pay and you can pick a very nice place.
Here in CR its very hard to find a job that will pay you enough to pay $400 a month, Only if you get a job in real estate or a good but i meann good sales job that pays good comissions.
But the jobs for english speaking people here usually pay between $4 to $5 an hour to start.
Paying $400 a month in CR is like paying $1200 a month in the states but if you can afford it, why not.

450 is cheap.

your question stinks.
well by the time you pay taxes at 10.00 an hour you'll make about 1250.00 per month
So yes 450.00 is very cheap I;m in modesto, ca and you can rent an apartment for about 650.00 and up
to buy a house well thats a different story!!!
I have been their once, and from the looks of it, job opportunities are harder to find their. The economy isn't as good as the US, so i would say job oppurtunities providing $7-10 would be harder than in in the US. However, the apartment does seem nice for it's price. However, if you really want that apartment, you may have a harder time finding a paying job.
It sounds like a good price for an apartment in Escazu (very expensive area), but I would not rent it if I don't have a job yet (unless you have savings). $450 per month is a lot of money in Costa Rica so you will need a well-payed job to be able to afford it. Speaking English is an asset. Many people who speak fluent English work for sportsbooks (internet bets). Yes, they are legal. I'm not sure how much they pay, though, but it's one of the best paying jobs. Good luck!
Costa Rican.
escazu...thats a nice neighborhood. i wouldn't go until you had some savings, though. jobs here do not pay as much as in the united states and elsewhere. it is extremely doubtful that you will make that kind of money without a really nice job.
