Do you need a passport to go to costa rica? |
Travel Info only people who are certain please. thanks, you all rock. Travel Tips Yes. It is checked when you enter the country. It is checked at security points within the country. It is checked when you leave the country. And it is checked again when you return to the U S. Oh. You can not leave Costa Rica until you pay a $26 exit tax. ha ha. Sad but true. Others Yes you do need a past port. You need a pass port when you go anywhere out of your country's controlled borders. I am assuming you are from the US, so Costa Rica is not officially a part of the US and therefore a pass port will be needed. I am a life long traveler Yes you do. Also, starting in 2007, all U.S. citizens will have to have a passport to leave/enter the U.S. (currently you can get in and out with your birth certificate and photo ID.) http://travel.state.gov/ Yes, you do. Go to travel.state.gov but: For entry into Costa Rica, U.S. citizens must present valid passports that will not expire for at least thirty days after arrival. Passports should be in good condition; Costa Rican immigration will deny entry if the passport is damaged in any way. Costa Rican authorities generally permit U.S. citizens to stay up to ninety days; I wouldn't travel anywhere outside of the US without a passport. Besides if you don't have one then you should get one. It's good to have second legal form of identification. |
