Is there train service between san jose and liberia in costa rica? |
Travel Info If yes, then how often? How much? Would you recommend it over taking a flight or a bus or renting a car? Travel Tips No there aren't any trains fron San Jose to Liberia. There are a lot of decent bus companies that provide you with good service. Just make sure you purchase the "directo" ticket otherwise they will be stopping in every single town. It's a 5 to 6 hour drive. Renting a car is another option, the roads are terrible (many pot holes, no llighting at night ) but the signals are in good shape and there a lot of restaurants and gas stations where you can stop and ask for directions. As I said before the road is terrible, but the scenery is great, The road is very sinewy and most of the way you only have two lanes(one lane for both directions). That means that if the traffic is heavy you will probably be stuck behind a huge line of busses and trucks. If you can afford a plane ticket I will highly reccomend recommend it. costs around $ 70.00 Others No trains at all really. But the "tico" busses are great they run all day every day they go all over. And are cheap and easy lived in Costa No. The only train service there was (between San Jose and the coast) never went as far north as Liberia and was mostly destroyed anyway by an earthquake in the early 90's. There has been some recent effort to restore parts of the old lines and there is now limited tourist service between San Jose and the Puntarenas area. All great answers! Fly, rent, or Bus in this order. Roads can be stopped for hours. January is bad, national holiday. Wrecks on roads bad. Its a great country to visit, nice peps, good beer & food. ENJOY>>>>>> |
