It is a wonderful country with very friendly people. Almost all areas are extremely safe (though petty theft is practically part of the culture) and prices are reasonable (not cheap). It can get fairly expensive in high season, after Thanksgiving through February.
The beaches are beautiful, surfing fantastic and wildlife unbelievable! Manuel Antonio is just filled with monkeys, sloths, boas, bats, iguanas, deer, Kutamundi...etc...
We have been over 10 times and even lived there for a year. It is hard to beat the friendly nature of the ticos and makes for an exciting and relaxing vacation.
