I am studying in Costa Rica and I'm worried about my safety. Do they have something a 911? |
Travel Info For anyone who has been there did you ever feel like safety was ever an issue. I'm going to San Jose, and I guess you could say I'm a little paranoid. Travel Tips There is no such thing as 911 in Costa Rica. There is an emergency phone for firefighters and police... but not as efective as in the US. As in all countries of the world, safety is always an issue. You should take all the basic precautions and you will be fine. Others Hey! Hello! I'm a costarican and of course we have into our emergency phone numbers 911. You can also search for firefighters and policemen phone numbers near the area you are going to be. Usually hotels provide this information. Good luck and feel as in home! ;) Safety is an issue. Crime is on the rise and any gringo is looked at like an ATM. I don't know their emergency numbers, but avoid getting into a situation, even where you live. Use common sense and be aware of your surroundings at all times. None of the people in Central America really like Americans, but they like the money. I know, I live here.
