Going to Costa rica Feb. 8-18, 2007?

Travel Info
Going to be staying in the following areas: Puerto viejo, arenal and Samara.....What the best thing to do in those areas. I'm going to be in these cities for about three days each.

Also, if there is anyone who lives over there, what's the best way to make sure your reservations are good, I'm having problem with the places getting back to me about reservations. I made them, gave them my card # and I do not get any answers about certain question I have about the reservations.

Whats the best way to get to my destinations, Airport to Puerto viejo, puerto viejo to arenal and arenal tu samara? I'm afraid of getting robbed if we travel with our luggage on the buses. I'm thinking of renting a car just to get from point A to point B with out luggage. What do you recommend?

Travel Tips
I went to Samara last summer and it was AMAZING. Your luggage will probably be okay on the buss. We took the buss there and back from San Jose and our stuff was fine. You could rent a car but the roads there are not the greatest to drive on. You could always hire a taxi. Good luck and have fun!

In Puerto Viejo you can chase drug crazed Euro hippie broads and meet the local black chicas. Getting to Puerto Viejo. There is a bus station that has nice buses going to areas on the Caribean side. The drug crazed euro hippie broads perfer the black guys so better stay with the black ones or American drug crazed hippie broads.

Arenal. there are regular tours, a bus or if you are more than one person negotiate a price with a cab
I would not rent a car, especially if it is your first time in CR. Driving is a whole new and different experience. Your stuff will be just fine on the bus if you use a minimum of good sense and caution. Keep your most valuable stuff in a carry on and keep it with you. If money is not a problem you can hire taxi's. There is also the option of a tour guide that will take you around for a little over $100 per day. I recommend Jose Alvarez who can be contacted at macrotours@yahoo.com.
Been there several times.
use the local 'shuttle' buses, interbus is the best, they travel between all the majore tourist centers.
in la fortuna go on a day trip to Cano Negro Reserve- about US$50- loads of wildlife on a trip down the river in a boat!!
in samara not a lot to do but lie on the beach, go to Playa Carrillo the next beach, 5km south, better sunsets and good sportfishing.
