Transportation in the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica? |
Travel Info Does anyone know how I can get around the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica? We are not planning on renting a car. I am looking to get from Playa Brasilito to Playa San Miguel/Playa Coyote, and then from Playa San Miguel/Playa Coyote to Montezuma. Any information is greatly appreciated. Type of Transportation (taxi, bus), approximate cost, length of travel, ANY advice is appreciated! Travel Tips I have not used this service, but they advertise on the web: http://www.montezumaexpeditions.com/tran... I have used this service: http://interbusonline.com but I'm not sure if they go to those places that you mention. Good luck! Source(s): Costa Rican living in the U.S. Other Travel Tips Michael B, I think you'd spend A LOT in taxis and the bus service is not quite good, anyway I'll try to inform myself of some options... OK, try this: http://www.1-costaricalink.com/costa_ric... By not quite good I meant in terms of connections from one city to another but I guess there you have exactly what you' re looking for! a car! preferably and SUV because the roads are VERY dusty and VERY holey. also. if you drive by a costa rican hitch hiker, pick him up. its the leaast you can do for them. i mean, you are in their country driving by them and spraying dirt in their faces. how would you feel? (i also recommend the paris cafe in nicoya! for breakfast and for dinner go to dona anas (a little way out of nicyoa) ask someone that can speak english and spanish) cocunut harry rents out cheap surfboards. costa rica is the best! also, if it is open, visit the "BAZAR" sells very good clothing. (expensive though!) Have fun in Costa Rica personal experience (i just came back from the nicyoa penisula) Preferably you should definitely rent a car. Taxi drivers often rip off their passengers, specially in rural areas because they do no use the taximeter, specially if you are a tourist, so I recommend this type of transportation if you agree to a fare before the ride. Now, if you are on a budget, the public buses is your best choose, however, the connections often seems difficult. So in order to get to these places you have to go to a main city in Guanacaste, I think Liberia, where there is a big bus terminal and you can shift buses to wherever you want to go. I would rent a car for travel on the peninsula. Distances are greater than the mainland, buses rarer. Montezuma is great. I'd go back in a heartbeat. |
