Travel Tips Actually, it was because when Columbus disembarked in the coast of Costa Rica, during his fourth voyage, he saw that the local indians wore golden ornaments and assumed that there was gold in that land, thus he called the rich coast or "Costa Rica" Others probably because they have nice beaches, and of course beaches are on the coast cuz costa rica is spanish for rich coast The real reason it's called the "Rich Coast" is because it's so lush with vegetation. Like when someone refers to soil as being rich. I was just in Costa Rica a month ago for the second time. Beautiful country. Costa Rica is Paradise. Pura Vida. maybe because Costa Rica is a paradise. It is a country with beautiful beaches and it is rich in sea biodiversity. I dont know that for sure, but Costa Rica is really beautiful |
