Where's a good place to go in Costa Rica? |
Travel Info Destination and hotel recommendations? Travel Tips Guanacaste is the best bet if you are looking to stay on beach. Tamarindo and Flamingo are beautiful but the hotels are pricey. I suggest that if you don't mind camping, go the national park Santa Rosa. It has great surfing, turtle nesting home, and snorkeling. The beaches are called Playa Nancite, Playa Naranjo, and Cuajiniquil. Also, everyone who visits Costa Rica has to go to Tabacon, the natural hot springs of Arenal. It's costly, but there is another one near Tabacon that not as luxurious and less expensive but just as relaxing. I also recommend going to the Monteverde canopy tour called Sky Trek. Basically, you are harnessed to a wire that is connected from tree to tree and you fly over the jungle, it's amazing! The website is http://skytrek.com/. Some other cool destinations in Costa Rica are Manuel Antonio, downtown San Jose, and Limon. Source(s): http://centralamerica.com/cr/parks/mosan... Other Travel Tips Watch "Sharkwater" and then go to Coco Island! http://www.sharkwater.com/ Guanacaste region if you're looking for a nice beach area. Hotels range in prices, if you've got deep pockets... Four Season, Papagayo Resorts or luxury villas... if not, hop online and check out some of the smaller hotels in the area. There are many to choose from in Tamarindo Beach, which is probably the most developed beach in that area (not necessarily the nicest) Naturally it depends on what you like to do. If you like bird watching, I recommend Monteverde and nearby Santa Elena Cloud Forest reserves (be prepared for rain). If you are interested in seeing a volcano, go to Arenal. I can recommend the Arenal Observatory for pleasant accomodations, but it's out of the way if you prefer to be in the center of things. The Tabacon Spa/ Resort, within day trip distance of Arenal and Monteverde, offers luxurious accomodations with natural hot springs. If this is not in your budget (mine either) you can arrange to spend a day or half day there. Not to be missed if you enjoy thermal waters. A lot of people I spoke to in CR went to Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast. It's dry and there are apparently good beaches. The northern Pacific coast also apparently offers good wind surfing. If you are masochistic and enjoy rain forests and high humidity, try the Osa peninsula. There is snorkeling, diving, sport fishing, and hiking in the remote Corcovado national park (more birds and Central American mammals). Accomodations here vary from luxury resorts to primitive camping. Been there, done that. montezuma beach, at sano banano. great place |
