Travel Info What are some important things that I need to know before going on a cruise? Travel Tips You want to find a cruise whose activities and people on board match your interests. Check out the port stops. Some people like just being on the ship, relaxing, doing the activities, and mildy exploring the ports (like me). Other people will explore each port city to death. Check recommendations. Word of mouth. What have been people's experiences going on your cruise line. Did they enjoy themselves? Did they have anything they wish could be better? Expect to pay extra for some things. Sometimes alcohol is not included. Sometimes you can only eat from certain places for free, other restaurants you must pay for. Expect to tip the maitre'd, the waiters, etc, at the end of the trip. If you don't know if you'll be seasick or not, find out what you can do/bring to handle the first day or two of seasickness if needed. Make sure you've got travel and health insurance, naturally. And have a great cruise! Others Number one, make sure you are not prone to being seasick, it is a good idea to see your doc. to get his advise about what to take, just in case. Being on a ship out in the ocean, is not like being on a lake. It can get mighty rough out there at times, but fantastic bobbing on the waves like a cork on mother natures roller coaster. Take an outfit one size larger than you normally wear, you,ll gain 5 to 10 lbs, depending on how long the cruise is. Take comfortable shoes, also gorgeous ones for party time. Blubla Do some research on the cruise ship and the ports you will be stopping at. Use the internet as a tool to view the points of interest on each Island or country you will be visiting. Expect to have a wonderful vacation. In my experience, there's no vacation as relaxing as a cruise. Do bring comfortable shoes. Many people have problems with feet swelling due to the fact the water on a cruise ship is processed from sea water. Drink bottled water if you are a big water drinker as I am and avoid any drink made with water, such as iced tea, coffe, tea. Be sure to have a credit card to allow you to spend as you wish, within reason. Try to stay with excursions booked on your cruise ship. If you are late getting back to the ship and you were not on an excursion booked through your cruise ship, you may find they left without you. Also, some Islands you are better off staying in a group. Have a wonderful vacation and I promise this won't be your last cruise. |
