Going to Cozumel, should I pre-purchase trip to Tulum and Snorkeling or wait till I get there?

Travel Info
Are these good deals or can I do better once I'm there.
Tulum and Xel-ha All Inclusive $128.00 per person, includes guided tour of Tulum plus all-inclusive package at Xel-ha, which includes entrance to the park, use of snorkel equipment, and food and drink while in the park.

Scuba Du snorkel trips go to three of Cozumel's favorite reefs: Columbia Shallows, Palancar, and world-famous Chankanaab. $28.00 per person

Travel Tips
Wait until you get there! I know that our resort had folks there to help us book different tours and they were cheaper that the online information that we found. Also...weather may be a factor. When you book online you may button-hole yourself into a day of snorkeling or looking at a ruin in a terrible storm!!!

I would not waste my time with Tulum. Spend all day at Xel-Ha (Garden of Eden in my book). Chizten-Itza (sp) is a LONG trip in a bus (if you like to do that on your vacation....

Xcaret park has ruins, recreations of burial grounds, horse shows, dance shows, an amazing evening show that brings Mexican culture, dance, costumes, music...very entertaining. The park is part zoo, underground snorkeling, Sea Trek (you descend to the bottom of the sea with a helmet providing your oxygen and see the fish, coral etc.) It is worth your time and money! http://www.xcaret.com

If you have to pick between Xcaret and Xel-Ha...pick Xel-Ha as it is not as commercial and VERY beautiful!

You can take a ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel for around $12 and find a snorkel tour near the pier...it is fabulous...beautiful snorkeling...

Hope this is helpful!

I was not that impressed with Tulum. After Tulum we went to Xel-Ha and it was gorgeous. If you can spend all day there go for it!

Pre purchase is usually a dumb thing to do. Buses are really easy in Mexico and you can book your seat online.

To be frank I think you will be disapointed with Tulum althoughg it is easy to get to. The town is ok for a stopover but the temple stuff is mediorcre and full of tourists. An alternative would be Coba a short bus trip from tulum (still rugged and jungly) or a trip over to Belize.
I agree with the previous post, you should not normally prebook tours.
Tulum is not that great (go to Chitzen Itza)
but Xel-ha is fantastic (I bought the all inclusive at the park entrance, I don't remember how much it was but it was a lot less than what I would have been charged if I had purchased the prebooked).
i agree also don't prebook I'm from England and i booked a package holiday for two weeks and booked the tours once we got there.
have a great time
