I am not a fisher but with the abundant sealife, I'm sure the fishing is very good. Other activity suggestions include the Nautalis submarine trip, snorkeling or diving if you can swim at all (it's the best anywhere). Been to many of the Caribbean islands, parts of Mexico, and Costa Rica and Cozumel is my favorite warm weather place. Felt very safe walking the downtown any time of day/night and enjoyed trying the less touristy bars/restaurants/shopping places. If you get bored and depending on how much time/money you have you can take the ferry (or plane) over to Playa,Xel-Ha,Xcarat,Tulum,Canc... (you can look on-line for more about these places and I'm sure wherever you are staying has info) on a side trip. The people are friendly and polite. Others cosumel is beautiful...you will love it. don't drink the water...ask for no ice cubes in your drink and don't eat the fruits and veggies...but even then you will still get sick so be prepared...bring lots of pepto bismal. I've been to Cozumel, about seven years ago, so a lot has changed more than likely. But, my advice about shopping in Cozumel, is be careful. the shop keepers are very aggressive, they will literally pull you in off of the street into their stores. I don't think they mean any harm, but it can get pretty strange. Oh, and taking a cab is sort of frightening, they drive fast and are kind of crazy, but they are also good drivers. Oh, and as applies to all of Mexico, don't drink the water. But I guess my biggest advice is, have fun, Cozumel is a great, beautiful place! If you are going deep sea fishing, bring sea sick pills or something. Cozumel is beautiful! Only eat things that you recognize (for example: american-made foods. brands that you recognize). |
