What is good to do in Cozumel? |
Travel Info My parents are going on a cruise and they'll be in Cozumel from 8am until 10pm. I have booked them a trip to the Mayan ruins which lasts until 3pm. So what's something else they can do after 3pm that's fun as well as safe? Are there counters at the port where they sell additional tours they can go on right there and then? Travel Tips They can get different trips off the ship. There is nice shopping in town. Snorkeling is easy and can be done by just about anyone. There are glass bottom boats and subs if interested. You need to find out if the ruins are on Cozumel or if they are going to the mainland, because there may not be a lot of time if they have to ferry back from Playa Del Carmen. Many evenings there is a performance in the square put on by locals. Lots to do that wouldn't cost much. Even a taxi to take them around the island and stop at areas of interest would be nice. Good luck. Others take a snorkle and fins with you and pocket a couple of bagles from the ship to feed the fish. They can rent a jeep and drive to the east side of the island. It is incredibly beautiful and a nice drive.There are no hotels on that side of the island but they have some bar type restaurants to stop and enjoy the water with a beverage and snack. I think they will be tired after a day at the ruins and might want to just go into town and have a snack and a beverage. Do a little shopping, walk around town and than go back to the ship. They can also go to Chankanaab National park, you can snorkel, eat at the restaurant there, check out the dolphins and sea lions, and the arboretum. This is a very nice park/beach. If you do snorkel bring some corn flakes from the ship, hold the bag they come in under the water and shake it and the fish will come to you and eat the cereal. Be sure and drive around the outskirts of everything it is really beautiful. |
