Is there a diff. of formal wear in summer and winter i.e. tails white black jacket etc...cruise in jul. thx.? |
Travel Info just curious about if there is a code about a difference of summer or winter of formal wear to a captains dinner aboard a fine vessel. tails or none, white jacket or black, top hat or none, cane or scarf, etc......cruising in july, baja, ca. any input would be greatful, thank you. I do not want to put that much effort into it. I enjoy formal night, and my wife loves it, but we still like to keep it low key. Source(s): sa Other Travel Tips You can safely rule out White tie and tails. This would have been appropriate in the golden age of transatlantic crossings for first class passengers up to the 1930s. Today, it is a matter of personal choice. Generally the more prestigious the cruise line, the greater chance a tux would be expected. Certainly the Queen Mary 2 would be a wonderful place to wear a tux. Read your travel brochure. They will tell you what is expected for a formal occasion at the Captain's table. If a tux is in order, perhaps a white tux jacket with black pants as you will be in a summer setting. Have your agent check with the cruise line you have booked passage upon. They will advise you the best. I am betting most lines will say a suit and tie would be most acceptable. Also look at the brochure and web pages for pics as you can take you cue from those. wear hat you want as formal as you want, there will be some formal, but most are semi-formal you are so close the the equator it does not matter what time of year it is, it is always at least spring as far as the weather goes and how most dress o:NA |
