Cruise Question!? |
Travel Info This will be my first cruise and have heard different opinions about everything I will need. I went clothes shopping this past weekend and got shorts, capris, tank tops, short sleeve shirts and another bathing suit. My mom and sister keep telling me that I need to get a sun dress or skirt too. I have a nice evening gown/dress for the captains dinner. My point to them was that I will be on vacation and shouldn't have to worry about wearing dresses. Do I really need one? I am not that much of a girly girl that I need to dress up all the time. I love being in shorts, tank tops and flip flops. I need some opinions from people who have been on a cruise. Thanks in advance for your help. Travel Tips I just got back from my frist cruise, and I was actually surprised by how casually everyone dressed even to formal night. I brought a really nice dress for every night, and ended up wearing the sundresses I brought for the day time to dinner at night because I felt so out of place when I dressed up. The first night, a lot of people wear what they got on the ship in, so there are a lot of people in shorts and flip-flops. All of the other nights(except formal night), you could easily get away with wearing some nice pants, you don't have to wear a dress if it makes you uncomfortable. No matter what you are wearing , there will always be some people who are more casual and some people more dressed up than you are, so I wouldn't stress about it too much...just focus on having a good time! Others yes you need one if you want to appear to have any class The evening dress should be fine for the dinner. The rest of the time wear what you want. bring two sundresses. and be thankful some one is paying for you to have what millions only dream of! I usually wear a skirt/dress to dinner every night, but that's because I enjoy doing it. You absolutely do not HAVE to wear a skirt if you don't wish to. There are other eating options aside from the main dining room, so you can even skip the captain's dinner, or any other formal night. The main dining room may not allow shorts, tanks or flip flops though, so check the rules. Some cruise lines have more relaxed rules than others. I would recommend dressing up a little in the dining room. If you are eating in a buffet anything goes. When on shore tours be sure to respect the customs of the area. Shorts would not be a good idea in a church. Why would you really need one? I don't prefer to wear dresses....there are still nice clothes you could buy instead of a damn dress. Just because you are a girl doesn't require you to have a dress. And yes, you are on VACATION! Don't listen to your mom and sister. Be yourself and don't listen to other people. Make your style your own....you don't have to be like them. They'll get used to it. |
