Travel Info July 8th, I set sail to Alaska on the Sun Princess, any suggestions on the type of clothing I can take? Travel Tips i just went on an alaskan cruise last summer and felt pretty well prepared. make sure you have jeans or warmish pants and long sleeved shirts. If you wear a t-shirt, probably a good idea to have a sweater over it under your jacket, because you can always take off layers if you're too hot. warm rain coats are a must. in addition to being cold, alaska is a super rainy place and it was constantly overcast and drizzly while we were there. It wasn't freezing freezing for us but i was glad to have a pair of thin gloves and a scarf with me. hope this helps! have a great trip! Others Alaska? proabably something like long sleeve if your going to get off and go explore.. if not then watever u want I went on a cruise to Alaska in September and we were very comfortable in jeans and a light weight long sleeve shirt. Are you going further inland or staying on the ship? If you are going further north inland then I would take a sweatshirt just in case, but in July you shouldn't need a heavy coat. On the ship I wore capris and my husband wore slacks. There are two nights (if you are doing the 7-10 day cruise) that are dressy so bring at least 1 nice outfit. (We were on the Island Princess) If you are just going on a 7 day cruise then what you usually wear and a light weight jacket. If you are going on a cruise tour the same. Actually the farther you go from the water it is really warmer. Usually go in May and on the water in the 40's and when I got to Fairbanks close to 80. Take lots of film. Do not buy souvenirs on ship. Example T- Shirt on ship $15.00 in port $5.00. Visit Alaska Shirt.com. In Ketchikan go to Salom Mall at end of pier. Many stores & great prices. Also Alaska T-Shirt too. Enjoy. Been there 20 times & going twice more this season. We sailed to Alaska last September and only needed a light jacket or hoodie off the ship, but we were blessed with sunny weather everyday. The only time we needed a hat/scarf and gloves was the morning we sailed Glacier Bay. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, but the wind was very cold. Have a great time. I can't wait to go back. I live here. get on my fanlist/network thing and I will fill you in. And WELCOME to our awsome state your going to have the experience of a liftime Woohoo. |
