However having travelled on many cruises worldwide can say that shore excursions arranged by the ship are bad value for money and work at the speed of the slowest person. We arrange all our own excursions now usually hiring a guide recommended via local tourist office. Even allowing for the guides cost it is usually cheaper and far far better to have the personal attention! You can also specify exactly what you want to do. As an example 2 years ago we ended up on top of Mount Etna (Volcano) seeing where it had erupted 18 months before and lighting paper from the still red hot ground a few inches feeling below the surface! Last year we cruised the 5 main islands of Hawaii, hired a car at each stop and saw what WE wanted to see not the cruise line! For example we went whale watching in a small high speed inflatable and got pictures of whales breaching as good as a David Attenborough show! The cruise line excursion was on an overcrowded slow big boat that saw very little (at a higher cost than our own organised trip!) Others what does v.fm stand for????? I've been round the med once,and going again this Sept, what exactly are you asking? right sorry,well there's four of us including the kids,and we always go on the organised trips,which do add up and can be a bit pricey! we do this because basically,if anything gets delayed,the ship will wait for you,if you go on your own,and you get delayed,the ship will leave you! take for example if you did Rome on your own and you were late, we were warned that the taxi drivers would charge you 拢100.00 plus..tell me the places where you are stopping at and if we've been there i can tell you what trips we have done,and which ones you could do yourselves? |
