Travel Tips
I have sailed on over 100 cruises and I have done the Mediterranean many times. It is a great way to see a lot and not have to suffer the packing and unpacking and checking in and out of airports and hotels.

However, it is a sampler of what Europe is and has to offer the visitor. To spend part of a day in a fantastic spot is good but not the same as staying there and getting to know the spot.

Some of the Med Cruises are a day here and a day there and not enough time, in my humble experienced opinion, to see the countryside or spending a few days in a city worthy of that.

It kind of reminds me of the movie "If This Is Tuesday This Must Be Belgium". 18 countries in a week concept. Even though it is a slower pace on a cruise, still I have had many clients come back exhausted from a Med Cruise! LOL

However, what you really need is a great Travel Agent that is a Cruise Expert. One that has been there and done that! He or she can direct you to the best ship at the best price. One that will fit your budget, your desires and your dreams.

There are a lot of them out there that do what you want to do. I remember many many years ago flying to Greece and sailing out on a ship. I thought that I would be the only one from California on this ship and it turned out that everyone was from California! I wish I had known that in advance. The next year I selected a ship with far more of an International group of passengers.

One piece of advice, if you are sailing out of Greece, make sure you are going to some of the Greek Islands, particularly Santorini. You will never forget that spot.

Get an expert.......ask "have you done this type of cruise and what would you recommend". If not, find someone who has. Many Travel Agencies have a Cruise Expert...talk to them. You can even call around until you find the right one!

So many "deals" out there for Med Cruises. Find one that suits your dreams and your pocketbook.

Good luck on the engagement! Fantastic choice for you both and the cruise is as well.

The best thing to do for this is to work with a Cruise Specialist. You do not pay any more than directly with a cruise line, and possibly can pay less. Plus, for the Med, there are many choices not only of ports visited but cruise lines as well. A Cruise Specialist can help you figure out what is best for you and the best value for your dollar.

I would suggest first thinking about any particular port or place or area you want to call a "must see" (Italy, France, Spain, etc.) and that is the way we begin to help people figure it out. There are not a lot a departures from Greece although many ships have ports of call in the Greek Isles

And finally, congratulations. have a great honeymoon.

Try a Greek owned cruise ship that sails out of Piraeus, Greece (Athens' port). Epirotiki
is the name of the cruise line.

Congratulations!

I just returned from a Disney Cruise in the Mediterranean on the Disney Cruise ship "Magic". It was our 25th Anniversary (I promised my wife we'd go on a Cruise and to Europe back we got married many years ago).

I have to say I was very impressed. We met dozens of frequent cruisers on this trip that included families, couples, single parents, and all told us we made the right choice going with Disney as compared to other cruise lines. They were right.

Disney had everything well organized from the time we left the states to the moment we landed in Barcelona, Spain. Disney had all ground transfers (limo/buses), hotels, luggage handling, shore excursions, Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, Ship Activities, Shows, and other events (lectures on shopping, cultural highlights) very well scheduled, communicated and executed.

The ports of call incuded:
Barcelona
Palermo, Sicily
Naples/Pompeii/Sorrento/Isle of Capri
Olbia, Sardina
Rome, Italy
Florence/Pisa
Marseilles, France
Monaco/Monte Carlo, France
Back to Barcelona

Check out their website at www.disneycruise.com. I found pretty much what they had was accurate and you can call to get more details on all the different type or shore excursions that you can take.

We originally planned to start off in Greece, but the Disney timeframes met what I was looking for although it cost more than several other lines.

Good Luck and Have Fun.
You can actually call and ask for brochures from cruise lines or check their websites for any city or ports that you want to go in Greece. you will also have that idea of the prices for comparison between cruise lines on which one offers the best rate. Congratulations and have fun!
I wouldnt recommend a cruise if you're trying to see Europe on a honeymoon. If your taking 2+ weeks off for a nice honeymoon then honestly it is soo much more fun to enjoy Europe's hotels and culture /restaurants when on a traditional vacation. If you want to see Europe go on a regular vacation, if you simply want to say you have been to Europe, take a cruise.
