Before I go: Questions for current/former Royal Caribbean (or any cruise line) employees? |
Travel Info Hey all, I am just waiting to be assigned a ship (Royal Caribbean /Stage Staff) and had a few "last minute" questions that maybe current/former employees can answer. What does internet access for the crew cost? Does it cost the same whether you bring your own computer or use the ship computers? I know you don't have to pay to wash your uniform laundry. But what about your personal laundry? Where can you wash that? How much does it cost? Are you paid every two weeks? Weekly? Monthly? I was thinking for personal clothes bringing along like 3 pairs of shorts, 3-4 short sleeve shirts, 2 long sleeve dress/casual shirts, 1 pair jeans, 2 pair casual long pants, 1 lt. jacket. Too much? Too little? Any recommendations? Anything else you think might be helpful? Thanks a lot! Kevin Travel Tips Hi Kevin. I don't know for sure about Royal Caribbean but most of the Cruise Lines have Internet cards you can purchase ($20) and you could use that within the crew Internet cafe onboard or with your own laptop. If I remember correctly the card gives you 3 hours. In many of the ports you can find a wireless cafe for free so you won't have any problems connecting anywhere if it's too expensive onboard. As for laundrettes onboard,they're free in the crew areas as well. With Carnival someone in your position would get their uniforms cleaned by the company, but again I'm not sure with RCCL. Also you can have them do your personal laundry for you as well but it will cost you. With Carnival we're paid every 2 weeks. Regarding your clothes, everything you've decided to bring sounds good. It might actually be easier to figure out what else you made need once your know your ships itinerary, night ports etc. But whatever you might be missing you'll have ample opportunities to pick up in any of the ports.
