Depends on where you are going..if you are going to a place like Bermuda they have whats called the "Hurricane season" this is usually in September, this dosent mean that there will be one just a chance so tickets to cruise there are cheaper, i know this because i go there all the time due to the low cost to go to a beatiful island for a week...2 tickets to cruise all week food and all is like 800.00 each.. not bad!

The cheapest time for Caribbean cruises is Sept or Early Dec. The best time to book is early. I booked a seven day Western Caribbean on the Carnival Glory for Sept last December, and I got four people for under $1400. The base is over $700 for each person now.

Hurricane/rainy season so be careful. You may get a cheap cruise but there's a good chance the weather will be bad on your cruise and that's not pleasant for anyone.
But if you can manage to book last minute (the day the ship is sailing) and live in a city that cruise ships are out of, they'll usually sell off any remaining cabins for as little as $100. You would book those ones right in the terminal building in the port and join the ship right then & there.
September to mid-November. Christmas time is very expensive.
