Alone on a Cruise?

Travel Info
I may be going on a Cruise with some friends. I am single and all the friends that are going are couples. I do not want to pay double for a room by myself. All the prices are based off of double occupency. If I cannot find someone to go with me, does anyone know whre I can check for others who want to share a room.

I do not know the specifc cruise line or date. But is will be leaving from L.A. in March and will be a 7-8 day Mexican Riviera cruise.

Travel Tips
There are some site that help you find roomies. Also, you might ask the cruise line what they recommend. You could also try Craig's list for your area. I've also included a great article from About.com about cruising single with matched roommates. Source(s): http://www.cruisemates.com/

Other Travel Tips
I would just pay the extra money. Lots of opportunities for a single due on a crusie.
I suggest that you find a friend or relative to go with you because you will be in a room basically 9" by 12', sharing a bath, and changing clothes, etc., as well as sleeping in close quarters. I would not want that type arrangement with a total stranger.

Yes you can pay a single supplement but that will be basically just a little less than a double fare. So you may as well take someone with you that you know and maybe give them a reduced rate by paying a part of thier fare. OR, book the very cheapest cabin on the ship which will be an inside cabin probably on a lower deck. The single supplement will be less because the cabin is less.

Good luck ..... you will enjoy that cruise, we did that one a couple years ago out of Long Beach on a Royal Caribbean ship.

Find out which cruise line as many will help find you a room mate to share the cost. I have known several who have done this and they not only made anew friend but, had a great cruise as well and did stop them from meeting other singles.
Some cruise lines (like NCL) has a guarantee single rate that let you have a cabin off your own for a good price. Otherwise its a good idea to find a friend or a relative since you basicaly has to pay the same price unleash youre one or two! Thats sad for us single travellers! Johan
