Confused about tipping of Royal Caribbean Cruise?

Travel Info
I am going on a Royal Caribbean cruise next month, and I already pre-paid for the tipping.

It was $58.50 per person.

Does that mean that I won't be charged the extra 15% on drinks?

Thanks!

Pre paying the tips is a really nice way to go. That way everything is taken care of so you don't have to worry about it once you are on the cruise. You can always tip more if you want, but you don't have to, you are giving the recommended amount by Royal Caribbean that way.

You will still be charged the 15% gratuity for any drinks that you purchase, that is seperate from the prepaid gratuity. Your prepaid covers your waiters and the person that takes care of your room. Anything else you do, such as a spa treatment, order drinks, room service, etc. is all extra. Only drinks automatically add on the tip. But, it is recommended that you give tips to someone like the person that delivers your room service. Also, if you eat in one of the surcharge restaurants, it is recommended that you give an additional tip.

Have a great time!

I didn't know you could pre-pay for tipping. That's a great idea even though $58.50 sounds so extreme! You shouldn't be charged the extra on drinks, but I bet they aren't included and they'll charge you anyway. See if you can go to their website and ask. Have a GREAT time!!
Tell you something about tipping( gratuities) The money that is tacked on to a bill really bugs the hell out of me..The money never seems to get down to the service people. They never get the total amount..I don't know where it disappears. A tip in the pocket of Service people who give you good service is worth a million dollars. Tip early in the trip to those you see all the time and they will be at your beck and call..I worked at a Dude ranch in upstate NY and when someone would tip me I made damn sure that they got more than a little attention....
Hi, I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and I pre-paid also for tipping and I didn't have to pay the extra 15% on the drinks that I bought. I hope that this helps---Have fun!
Who exactly were you told would be receiving these tips in the pre-payment? You could probably only pre-pay your tips to your cabin steward and dining room waiter, but not bartenders because some people don't use their services. I would still tip bartenders - make sure they see you tipping because they'll make sure you get taken care of, which is VITAL on a cruise!
The last cruise I went on (which was on 10/8/06) on the Adventure, they always charge you 15% gratuities on all drinks. It doesnt matter if you prepay or not, those prepaid tips are your for room stewart, dining room waiter and assistant waiter. Tips are 3.50 per person per day for waiter and room stewart and 2.00 per person per day for assistant waiter. So for a 7 day cruise is $63.00 per person. Which really isnt that much considering what these people do for you and how special they treat you. Also if you want to ask anything cruise wise go to www.cruisecritic.com. That group of people can answer any question you can even think of.
