Closest Cruise Ship to Portland, Or?

Travel Info
What's a Cruise Ship that departs closest to Portland, Or. I don't feel like driving down to Los Angeles!

Travel Tips
For large ships your best option is Seattle and Vancouver for Alaska.

Carnival has a few sailings that are one way from Vancouver to Hawai'i. Holland America has some round trips from Vancouver to Hawai'i as well.

Otherwise your only other option is to look at trying to catch a repositioning cruise from Seattle or Vancouver to LA or San Diego at the end of September as the ships start redeploying elsewhere with the end of the Alaska cruise season

However, if you're interested in smaller ships Cruise West offers departures from Portland.

In April the Spirit of 98 and Spirit of Discovery will offer 7 day Pacific Seaboard cruises from Portland up the Columbia River, Snake River, Hells Canyon, Walla Walla, Dalles, Astoria, and returning to Portland, Oregon.

Both ships will be doing the same itinerary in September and October of this year as well.

After this year's Alasksa season there are no more San Francisco departures from the major cruise lines, everybody is headed to San Diego and LA/LB. Source(s): Cruise Planners www.mycruiseplanner.net 888-286-9827

Other Travel Tips
Cruise ships come into San Francisco, but I don't know if you can begin a trip there or if it's only a stop along with way.
How about the cruises on the Columbia/Snake Rivers? They begin & end in Astoria. Otherwise you would need to go to Seattle or SF and plan on sailing to Alaska or Mexico. The River cruises are very nice, slow, and on paddlewheel boats seeing lots of historical areas. The company is Majestic Cruise line formerly Cruise West & Delta Steamboat. If you want Mexico, but w/o flying then you definately want the Dawn Princess from SF until the end of April.
All Cruise Travel
there are hardly any ships that leave from LA anyways. Vancover is huge for trips to alaska, asn san franciso can go to either alaska or south to mexico.
Perhaps check into departing from Seattle as that is an easy car ride and much closer to where you live.
Whatever you decide, have a great time.
