Any advice for things to do ashore on St. Lucia, Barbados and Antigua? |
Travel Info We are leaving April 14 for a 7 night southern Caribbean cruise. We have never been to these 3 islands. Suggestions for onshore acitivities are welcome. Travel Tips On St. Lucia the Pitons are always quite a spectacle. They're large hills in the south of the island covered in jungle and look spectacular. There's also lots of banana groves in the middle of the island. Barbados grows more sugar cane and uses most of it to make rum. There's some big, old plantation houses in the hills in the middle worth checking out. Crane Beach in the southeast corner of the island is absolutely breathtaking. Pictures of the pool there are often used for promotions. In Antigua go south to Nelson's Dockyard and Shirley Heights. Built in the 1700's as the Caribbean headquarters of the Royal Navy a lot of it has been restored and preserved. Captain, later Admiral, Horation Nelson who died beating the French at Trafalgar, was in charge at one time. Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square in London commemorates him and his victory. Dickenson's Bay is great if you just want a beach but there's so much history in Antigua. Others In antigua, take a cab to i think it was called Dickensons beach... it was soooo nice, they have a bar there too, drinks are reasonably priced sand is so soft and water is warm and really pretty... have fun, antigua is really beautiful, i wish i could live there. Oh and don't be afraid to walk around the downtown area, theres alot of cool things to take pictures of I took a luxorious cruise to the southern caribbean. You are gonna love it!!! St.Lucia, take a bus or cab tour. There are beautiful sights. Also, on all of the islands, there is great shopping!! If you and your wife are into the cultural, wooden jewelry, go shopping!!! Antigua is ok. I did not enjoy as much as St. Lucia!! I hope you have the best of fun!!! |
