Can u cruise with a an old warrant?

Travel Info
One of our friends can't join us for a cruise because he says he has an old warrant for not paying fines. He says he is lucky he hasnt gotten pulled over because thats the only way it would come up, since they wont bother to look for him. I was wondering if things like that would make a difference in cruise travel?

Travel Tips
Onlly if he needs to get a passport.

I would NOOOOOT want to find out! Stay home and watch TV for God's sake, it is not something you want to play games with.

If you are going anywhere where a passport is required, there is a good chance they can easily run a check.
Tell him pay the fines already. Look at what a nervous wreck this guilt is turning him into.
Well when you do enter and leave countries stuff like that does come up. He should really just take care of it. In the end he is not likely to get caught for a local traffic warrant, but I would not take the chance.
Possibly, I've heard stories of people being arrested getting on and off the ship for simple traffic warrants. I've also heard of someone who cruised with 2 warrants for traffic tiks and on probation and had no problems, but......why take the chance? If he can't afford to pay the fines, he really can't afford to cruise can he?
Must make a comment on one of the answers below - cruiss lines DO background checks on each of its passengers. You are required to complete a guest information form before you board the ship (some require it before they will send you your documents). They use the information on this form (which includes your passport info., which is linked to your SSN#) to run a security (background) check on you.
it will come up. His name and social security number will be handed over to Customs, and it will be flagged, and he will be denied boarding becuase of it. Passanger manifests must be submitted 72 hours before the cruise is scheduled to depart.

He will also be denied a Passport, and since he will need one before th eend of 2008 to return the the US from aany port of entry(sea, air, land).. he might as well do something now to get that warrant taken care of.
