Can Americans travel to Cuba as tourists?

My bf is Cuban (born in USA) and wants to go, if he ever goes I want to go with him.. but some people say Americans can't go. Can your or not??

There are no flights from the US to Cuba. You'd have to come up to Canada and fly out from here.
I think that you can go but you can't fly directly from the US. You have to go to another country and then fly to Cuba from there.

I went to Miami in Feb. My family was planning to also go to Cuba since they're Communist country but they wont let Americans in. Sorry.
