Problems with going to Cuba?

Travel Info
I plan to go to Cuba with a friend during June. We are both U.S. citizens and are leaving through Mexico since I am Mexican and fluent in Spanish and often go to Mexico to visit family(every 2 weeks). We both have passports and there should be no problem crossing the US-Mex border...is there anything else I should worry about? All input is appreciated, thanks :)

Travel Tips
I wouldn't worry about anything it's not Iraq, have fun!

I'd worry about cubans.
Hope it's not an American passport.
Cubans are happy friendly beautiful people you havent got anything ot worry about - other than if you have an american passport - a few american people i know here in the UK cant
go regardless of their citizenship being UK.

Your lucky to be able to go - I LOVE CUBA - you soooooo wont be dissapointed when you go - music on every street corner, 1950's cars - its just enveloped in history and you will fall in love with the place.

have the time of your life .. good luck
Americans cant go to Cuba because Fidel Castro had power in 1959 and America did not like how had ruled Cuba they considered it as an communist country and then America had a war with Cuba which we lost and America is an enemy with Cuba it is against the law to be an American and go to Cuba unless it is for an education reason
do not use your american passport , or at least dont let them stamp them , they wont do it if you ask them.
Do not take uS dollars with you change them for EUROS , us dolar in Cuba is not prohibited but penalized with a tax 10-20%, do not take bills higher than 20 , they charge you a fee for breaking it into smaller bills , a friend of mine went in March and told me that. Have fun .No lleves electrodomesticos que no sean para tu uso personal. Clear clothes , Cuba is HOT !
The Cuban imigration authorities do not stamp your passport. Instead you have to buy a visa which is printed on a separate document you will have to keep together with your passport all the time.
Leaving the country will cost you CUC 25 ($25) airport tax. (Don't spend all your money :)
The exchange rates are even better for Canadian Dollars and Swiss Francs than they are for Euros.
I think there are Mexican travel agencies specialized in helping US travelers getting into Cuba. My (German) guide book says that over 100.000 US citizens visit Cuba every year.
So you should face no problems.
Bring soap and pens with you. (Gifts for hosts and children)
Don't go into hotels, better rent 'casas particulares'.
They are much better and much cheeper than hotel rooms ($15 - $25 per double room) and you will learn a lot about Cuban people and culture.
Don't be afraid of criminality. In La Habanna you are in danger of losing your photo equipment. Cuban people in the streets kept telling me to take care about it. But in general you will feel very safe over there.

Have fun!
