What resort to stay at in Cuba?

Travel Info
Hello,
I am travelling to Cuba in November 2007 and was wondering which resort I should stay at? The two we are thinking about are Melia Cayo Coco and Melia Cayo Guillermo. I would appriciate any suggestions and all comments on what to do and where to stay when we are there!!
Thanks so much

Travel Tips
Has previous answers had said if you are American you have to go via Canada or Mexico, the cubans have nothing against Americans it is the Government they have a problem with anyway I will digress
I stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco in February, and visited the Melia Guillermo whilst I was there.
Firstly the Cayo Coco, is a brill hotel, adults only with a fanastic service and food, you are treated really well, a lot of couples go to get married, rooms not bad, all facilities etc., a few good bars, they also do diving and snorkelling there, they have a place that will teach you. They run excursions onto the main land (which I recommend, so you will see Cuba as it really is). The population of the Cayos is the tourists - most of the staff live on the mainland. You also do not have to wear one of those stupid wrist bands either.
I loved the place and would readily go back.
My partner and I got on a little bus outside the Hotel and went to Cayo Guillermo (Melia).
It has a jetty come pier going out into the sea, we also saw children there, we had a meal and the service was the same as the Melia Cayo Coco.
They seem to cater more around the pool in daytime activities at Guillermo the beach was similar.
The Cayo Melia is closer to the airport - about 15 mins - whereas the Guillermo would take longer - should imagine about 30-40 mins
Either hotel you will have a great time.
Hope this helps a little - have a great holiday Source(s): Visited Cuba (Melia) in February and Playa Coco in April 07
P,S. If you are American - they will not accept any of your currency or your Credit/debit cards, they will not stamp your Passport
Other Travel Tips
Just an advise: Before doing any booking please cont role the political situation in Cuba, there are a lot of problems for the moment and if you are American..... Better play safe and go to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata....
Both Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo are absolutely beautiful places, cayo coco is very quiet with just the one hotel at the moment, cayo guilermo has more hotels and one that is adult only, I would recommend the Melia hotel as its lovely, the beaches in the cayos are absolutely beautiful, its like having silver velvet trickling through your toes is the sand and the ocean is bath tub warm and so beautiful with fish swimming between your legs and surrounding you, take a trip to Pilar beach on the catamaran to swim off the reefs and eat lobster and chicken in the most beautiful surroundings, have a great time and enjoy.
