Travel Tips
I went to Cuba in February and April of this year - lucky me! I stayed in the Cayos - the beaches are unbelievable - straight out of a magazine - the people are really nice - on the Cayos you are really isolated from the Mainland the only population are the tourists, they do a lot of tours - to Havana, Dolphins, catamarran, speed boats etc., I would suggest at least 1 mainland visit to see the real Cuba, everything catered for at the hotel, they even have a bat cave that they use as a disco. The only thing was we have a couple of days of bad mosquitoes - but they went out in the early morning and dusted them (if thats what you call it) with a plane and it solved the problem.
I stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco which was all adults and also Globalia Playa Coco - the Playa Coco had a beautiful horseshoe beach and no other hotel around. The food and service is brillant - but of course that is individual choice.
Tipping is expected, and things are relatively cheap. Please go and enjoy - and if theres room in your case - I will willingly fill it for you Source(s): Visited recently

cuba? why cuba... your better off in north korea
I went to Cuba not too long ago. Stayed further along to the east than the usually quite touristy Varradero. It was very pleasant. Beautiful beaches, attractions, food and of course, the people. It might be a bit of a culture shock, but as far as a nice fortnight away goes, it was the business.
hmm....holiday to CUBA??!! you aren't American r u?? It's just not a part of the plan since we loved & RESPECTED Kennedy's decision which still stands today.
Cuba is beautiful. I spent 2 weeks there with a small group of 6. The beaches are incredible and they have the nicest people.
Havana is right out of the 60's with all the old cars. My husband loved the history.
You'll find mostly Canadians & British there.
You'll have a great time.
And a note to the person from the U.S.A....we had americans on our flight out of Vancouver. Cubans welcome everybody including Americans. It's only your government that cares.
Cuba is an awesome place. I travelled around a bit in two weeks. Started in Havana which is great but pretty hectic but really good fun plenty to see and do the museum of the revolution is excellent. Varadero is really nice chilled out and touristy with the most amazing beaches. I also went to an island of the south cost called isla Juventud which was my favourite place on the island really chilled out with really nice locals. For an authentic cuban experience I would advise staying in Casa particulars which are houses in which people rent out rooms (they are regulated by the government and very safe) they are really nice and the people cook and do all your washing and the socialise with you. But there is plenty of choice for really nice hotels too. go somewhere with air con !! its still really hot and humid at night. But on the whole it has a really good blend of just being able to chill out and being able to do cultural sight seeing stuff.
