go on trip advisor lots of reviews and forums to ask questions.
Have great time went to cuba last june and loved it, it was amazing wanted to go back this year but bf wanted to go somewhere else so we off to maldives on thursday.

Lonely Planet, Rough Guide or trip Advisor are all good, go get any one of the books from the library or from Smiths/Amazon.
