Travel Info I am going to Ca yo Coco, Cuba this Friday with friends. How can I get to Havana. Tell me things to do in Cuba Travel Tips I just got back from my fourth trip to Cuba. Havana isn't an easy journey from Cayo Coco. CC itself is beautiful with a lot to do. There are spectacular beaches, wonderful and very accessible reefs and great sailing and fishing. My friend's kid tried para sailing and there was a lot of that sort of activity going on. Something you might consider doing is going shopping in Ciudad de Avila, the nearest sizeable town.. There are good restaurants and the shopping has become a lot better recently. It is very cheap for tourists although not for the locals. I bought a linen shirt for 6 CCs. It would cost about 110 CCs to go into Ciudad de Avila for the day by taxi for up to four people. Take a raincoat - you might get showers this time of year. Others They usually run excursions from your hotel - it cost me about 179 CUC for a day trip - its about 1 hour flight from Cayos to Havana - then they take you around Havana - they also had an overnight trip - which was nearly 300 CUC I stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco - Playa Coco I went with a travel agency from UK Thomas Cook But other agencies there also The trip was cancelled on a few occasions because the plane broke down You might be better off organising the trip on your own, the airport is only 15/20 mins from all the hotels on the Cayos There is not much to do unless your into water sports - Diving snorkelling A must is the Catamaran trip - there is also a Disco in a Bat Cave - ask the Entertainment team at your hotel - its not widely advertised - should cost about 20 CUC We also went on a Salsa night on the beach (Flamingo) - that was organised by Thomas Cook Go and enjoy the beach - if you have never been - it is brill Watch out for the mossies - keep indoors between 6 - 9 morning and night if possible. My daughter had a really bad reaction to them - or try putting neat gin over yourselves - then they are to drunk to bit you lol Went to Cayo Coco in Feb. and April 07 |
