Cuba - September? |
Travel Info Has any one encountered any (Dare I say it) Hurricanes at the beginning of september time in cuba, as I am off there then, and wondered what the typical weather would be like, as we tend to here different reports. Just wondering what its been like in september over the last few years. Travel Tips It is part of the hurricane season. I went at the end of September and we had some bad weather, strong winds (nothing hurricane force though), torrential rain, thunderstorms (one of which left the hotel in complete pitch black darkness) and one time we actually saw a hurricane or storm anyway passing when we looked out to sea. Others go on weather underground and look up cuba you can put in the dates you are going but put last year and it will show you what it was like then it has all the weather history on it - very good. I love cuba have a great time The hurricane season in the Caribbean typically runs from June to December, with September-October being the peak. Last year there were no major storms to hit the island, but 2004 and 2005 were particularly bad. That said, your chances of visiting Cuba and NOT experiencing a hurricane are higher than going and experiencing a hurricane. If you're planning on going for a week you should probably set yourself up for at least 2 or 3 days of rain. Another option would be to look into a tour operator that offers hurricane insurance. A lot of the reputable ones do these days. Basically, they will refund you a portion (usually everything except the flight) of the cost of your trip if it is disrupted in a major way because of weather. Good luck! September , hummm, hot , humid , hot , humid and occasionally a hurricane but for sure nobody knows as those things are unpredictable, the most active month : November but at least you will be warned ahead of time , is not like a tornado , just go to Cuba , is the safest place to be in a Hurricane , just compare statistically in the last 30 years there are less casualties than when Katrina Hit in New Orleans. There is a very good evacuation process which I have been witness of and tourists are always gonna be protected no matter what. Trust me, I am Cuban http://www.cubahurricanes.org/index.php... http://www.cuba-junky.com/cuba/hurricane... |
