US Embargo on Cuba, UNFAIR?

As an american shouldn't be our right to travel where we want/when we want. Does anyone but me feel llike it is unfair that our rights to travel to a beautiful island are limited. Give me all ur comments and if u think the embargo will be lifted with castro's weakened power over cuba.

The US Govt has not really restricted you. It is just not facilitating you. Every Govt has some restriction if you think about it. These are imposed to achieve THEIR goals. People from most countries cannot travel to the US when they want. What about their rights to travel where they want, when they want? We have to always view matters from 3 sides. Different perspectives lead to different actions. Suppose Cuba were to say no to Americans? you would miss out on a great opportunity. Remember too, most Cubans cannot leave their country.

You can visit Cuba easily from Kingston, Jamaica. If you travel from Montego Bay, you will have to change planes in Kingston anyway, plus it will cost you more. Travel agents offer package tours which can make it less expensive for you. Air Jamaica flies 2-3 times weekly to Cuba.

I don't think the embargo will be lifted any time soon but I am sure that the other Caribbean islands are thinking about it. If Cuba should open up everyone would be heading there. They have beautiful hotels and beaches and a high literacy rate. Even their taxi drivers have degrees!

You can fly to Cuba. You just can't do it from the US. Go to either Mexico or Canada, or almost any European country, for that matter, first.
To answer the question YES I think the embargo should be lifted - lets face it - US is not interested in Cuba or Fidel - you could blow the island to smithereens if you wanted to.
It is all the ex Cubans who were in Cuba before/ during Fidel and they had money and power - they are giving a helping hand to your Senators/Politicians to vote for the Embargo.
When the United Nations voted for lifting the Embargo - only 4 countries voted FOR the embargo to carry on.
Just goes to show that the United Nations is a sham really - and US rules ok - what a fiasco.
Your should go to Canada or Mexico and visit Cuba that way.
Cuba doesn't really have any great accomodations/tourist attractions. Most people there are poor.
I think the embargo is pretty unfair though. We should give them a chance to have a little freedom too.
