Cuba travel; problems an american incounters at customs returning to usa? |
Travel Info Cuba travel; problems an american incounters at customs returning to usa? Travel Tips The media has reported that President Bush has implemented stricter regulations on US citizens going to Cuba. An article I read a few months ago said that more people were receiving fines of up to about $500 for going. The website for the US Treasury makes it seem like there are far stiffer penalties such as thousands of dollars in fines and even jail time. I suppose that with the info from the US Treasury, it is possible they could arrest you at customs if your passport has a stamp from Cuba on it. I have heard that Cuban officials do not stamp it because of this reason. Another way to get around the stamp on your passport is to report it missing once you get to the country you will be flying back into the US from. I hope this was helpful. If you don't, just don't say where you were. The Cubans dont stamp passports of US Citizens. |
