Is it safe to travel to havana i am british? |
Travel Info Is it safe to travel to havana i am british? Travel Tips Yes, Havana is pretty safe for tourists no matter the nationality. It's safer than most Latin American capital cities. Just take the usual precuations of not wearing flashy watches, jewellery, and not taking huge wads of cash around with you when you go out and you'll be fine. Just keep your wits about you and you'll enjoy it - it's one of the must-see cities in the world - unlike anywhere else on earth. Source(s): Been there for two months. Other Travel Tips Yes it's safe and very clean not what you would think for a poor country, but the ppl there are really friendly and the women are even friendlier if you get my drift ;) Havana, as the rest of Cuba, is a very safe place to visit. There isn't nearly as much risk as in any other Caribbean country. I've been there 3 times as a single woman and never had any problems from the Cuban people or the "authorities", even when I messed up by not carrying my passport when I went to Baracoa and needed to have the immigration officials give special permission for me to stay in hotel. ALWAYS carry your passport with you when you are traveling around the country. You need it at the bank, checking in at a hotel or casa particular, or renting a car. It is easy to travel around the country as well, either by car or with ViaZul bus service. There is more basic transportation that the locals use, but you have to be prepared for over-crowding and long queue lines...the people are very patient compared to North Americans. Don't do anything that would be considered stupid at home and you'll find that you'll have no trouble. Have a great trip! I wish I was going... |
