You will have go via Canada. There are travel agencies that can make this very easy for you including temporary visa pages for your passport.
you don't, you first need permission from the US gov't if you are a US citizen then you can fly through Mexico or Canada, if you don't get permission and you are caught it is a $7000 fine and possibly jail
