HELP! What is there to do in Dallas? |
Travel Info I moved here a couple of years ago, and as far as I can tell there is little or nothing to do here if you rule out going out to eat and drinking your face off! Travel Tips There are lots of things to do along the DART rail. You can go to the Dallas Zoo, Union Station, the West End, the West Village, and Mockingbird Station. From the West Village (Cityplace Station) you can take the free McKinney Ave. trolley down to the Dallas Museum of Art. The trolley runs along the west side of the museum. East of the museum is the Nasher Sculpture Center. Nearby is the Guadalupe Cathedral, and across Ross Ave. from the cathedral is the JPMorganChase building, which has a free observation deck called the Sky Lobby. You have to visit during business hours. Just ask security if you can visit the Sky Lobby, and if they aren't having any special functions, they'll let you go up. It's pretty cool. Take a bike ride around White Rock Lake, and visit the Dallas Arboretum while you're in the area. Drive up to McKinney and visit the antique shops around the town square. Grapevine has an old town center as well. Southlake has an interesting new shopping development that is designed to look like an old town square. It's got the same stores you'd find in a mall though. Go ice skating at the Galleria or Stonebriar Center. Take a day trip to Ft. Worth and visit the acclaimed Kimball Art Museum and the new Ft. Worth Modern Art Museum. There are lots of things to do, you just have to get out of the house and go do them! Pick up the Dallas Observer, or pick up the Friday Dallas Morning News for a copy of the Guide, which is has lots of information about shows and activities in the area. Others Drive a couple hours to Houston! It's 10x better. Try comming to Oklahoma first and then you won't complain about Dallas! I'm serious! I had to move here from Denver, CO and omg it's impossible to compare! There is a lot to do there, it depends on where in Dallas you live. There are all kinds of museums...I highly recommend the Nasher Sculpture Center. There is also the Dallas World Aquarium in downtown. Also the JFK Museum is down there (I suggest having lunch at the aquarium one saturday or sunday, then going to the museum). There is Southfork ranch near Plano where they filmed the tv show Dallas (which they are making a movie pretty soon out of). Also, there is Six Flags in Arlington, the Texas Rangers baseball in season, Dallas Cowboys Football, Texas Motor Speedway, and lots of other things to do. Good luck, I just transfered to Atlanta from Grapevine and miss it! Go to Fort Worth |
