The Cost of Living in the D/FW area?

My husband and I are wanting to move to the D/FW area, but need to know a good place where we can get a well-priced, but not too expensive apartment ($300-$400 a month), or rent a house for not too much more.

You won't find a house that cheap. Really cheap apartments are at least $450 for a small 1br and if you want any size at least $550 and at least $680 for 2br. House rents at least $750..
