What can we do to make Dallas a hot tourist place like other cities?

Travel Info
Dallas is a great place to live, but why is Houston more popular when it comes to tourist attractions and San Antionio.
What can we do to make it the IT place to be. We don't have many famous people come here either. Other cities have more concerts and shows than we do. I want the city of Dallas to get our town on the REAL map! Anyone else think this? What can we do?
Thanks!

Travel Tips
I am Canadian and my and my friends went through Dallas on our way too and from Austin then we went to San Antonio and Corpus Christi. San Antonio of course has the Alamo, the River Walk and Fiesta Texas. Plus they have really built up the tourist feel and make it a fun convient destination. Austin was also quite lively and interesting. Dallas was so big and confusing. We stopped on out way back to Canada to see the spot where JFK was killed. It took us forever to find it and it wasn't marked when we drove by the first time which got us stuck again on the freeway and took us 20 minutes to get back. Once we stopped we went there and found no one to really explain much except for some old people selling papers. I know that it isn't a thing to be greatly proud of but it is something that I really wanted to see and felt value from seeing even as a Canadian. I think that there should be some tours offered for people who would like to understand more about this significate historical event. Also I didn't think that the downtown core had much else to offer. It seemed like that was it in Dallas. I also didn't find anything about Dallas to be very estitically pleasing. I think it would take a major over haul to give the city the make over necessary to draw tourists.

Get rid of T.O.
Move it to Colorado
Lets see now, blow it off the map and start over.
If you live here... how can you not be aware of Victory Park

it will be like a mini-time square!
Hi,, you want to know what you need to do..... Well back in the 70's and 80's there was this tv series called Dallas.....
Everyone went there,, after watching that show,,, from all over the world,,,,,and its still a hit in Europe !!

Re- make the Show !!!!! Use Mathew Mc Connahie,, and one or more of the Baldwin brothers ,, their all Native Texan,,, and find some pretty girls and a new Jock and Miss Ellie,,, and Cliff Barnes,,, and you got a hit...... i promise you....

good luck
Having visited Dallas ONCE on business (from Toronto), I can say that I don't want to go back. The whole city reminded me of everything American. The hotel I stayed at, and every restaurant, etc. that I saw while there was very "big box" - all chain restaurants, Best Buy, Costco, Toyr R Us, name brand and huge chains... the kind of culture characterized by the commercials we see on TV for Disneyworld, Applebees, Denny's, Circuit City etc. etc.

What makes people want to visit your city is CHARACTER... the type of character you get in New Orleans, Montreal, San Francisco, New York... when you're in these cities, you know exactly where you are because of the culture, the people, the FEELING. When you're in Dallas, all you feel is BIG BOX & CHAIN RESTAURANT...

Sorry, but that is the truth, I'm not meaning to insult your city.
