Anyone moved from Cali to Texas? You like it in Texas.? |
Travel Info I moved form the bay area (santa clara), to dallas area (wylie). It was really hot here for the past 3 weeks since iv been here, but now its cooled off (85 F). The high school is so much more nicer here, even though it is a small town. Wylie is a little far away form the mall and such (i guess thats the californian in me). But people are really really nicer here. I thought that people were really closed minded and racist, because i am Muslim, and i was scared moving to texas, but now I realized that everyone is really nice here. But I hope that wylie doesnt turn into the gang infested garland. One thing that I didn't like is that there is really no place to go in wylie, except walmart, lol. and there are not as many parks in texas than there were in cali. And one thing that i miss about california is the trees, the fruit trees, mountains and that greenery i wanted to know if anyone from cali moved to texas, and did you like it, what did you not like about it,just curious Travel Tips I just moved to the Dallas area (Frisco) 6 months ago. I have lived in Missouri (St. Louis area), Louisiana (New Orleans), California (San Diego for a few months), and overseas (Hiroshima, Okinawa, Korea). Most of the people are super nice. Right now being a Muslim is going to bring out the racist in people that normally wouldn't be, they mistake it for patriotism now. Try not to take that too personally, once people can get to know you and see you as a person instead of just a Muslim I bet that the vast majority will go back to being respectful and cool. This summer is unusually hot and dry, I was here in 2001 and it wasn't nearly so bad. We should get some real rain this fall and you will see a whole new TX. As for places to go, there is alot around not far from Wylie once you get to know your way around better. And once you start making more friends at school they will tell you the places to go that don't suck as much as Walmart (they still might not be cool, just not as lame). I hope I helped or at least gave you some hope. Others Texas sucks, I can't wait to move back to Cali. I've lived in Dallas for 11 years, !$#! this state. my cousin moved from fremont to texas and we simply cant get her to come home...not sure whats so great about texas but i've known of 5 differant households that have moved there over the past year....hope all works out well for you there I'm a Cali girl and definitely planning on moving to Texas..as soon as my tour is over. Cali is great and all but I prefer living in Texas, especially when I have a family now. i live in Wylie! i moved from the middle of the desert in so. cal (where my family was stationed in the navy), and i like the area, but i liked the dry heat of the desert more. my family is originally from here and i love it! garland fun live in |
