What kind of places are on the west end in dallas? |
Travel Info I mean during the day, not bars or nightclubs. Travel Tips The West End is a section of Dallas that consists of old red brick warehouses that have been converted to restaurants and bars. There really isn't much to do during the day (in terms of shopping, etc.). The Dallas World Aquarium is nearby (admission charged), as is the historic Union Station, which is still used as the city's Amtrak terminal. If you are looking for things to do in Downtown Dallas during the day, try the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the historic (original) Neiman-Marcus store at Main and Ervay. The Hard Rock Cafe is (and always has been) located in its own building on McKinney Avenue. This building was once a Baptist church. The neoclassical design of the building has earned it the nickname "The Supreme Court of Rock 'n Roll". You can get to it by taking the (free) M-line streetcar up McKinney Ave. Ask the driver where to get off. This streetcar line starts at the Dallas Museum of Art (it runs right along the west side of it) and goes north to the West Village, a new development of shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. The West Village is also about a hundred yards from the Cityplace station on the DART Red Line, so you can use that to get to and from downtown as well. Hard Rock cafe isn't too far away from there either, though you'd need to drive to it because it's a really long walk. The west end is mostly known for the hodgepodge of shops and restaurants it has down there. Hard Rock Cafe used to be there but they closed the West End Marketplace down for something else. Plenty of eating places, the aquarium, the 6th floor museum, and a lot of other places. Take the train to the West End station (Red Line) and hop off and start walking around. You'll enjoy it, I promise. |
