I briefly lived in north Dallas and thought it was ok, but I don't want you living there in case I ever move back. Lots of possibilities here depending on your income or wealth. Suburbs like Garland and Richardson and Plano are not too far from metropolitan Dallas and all have homes in every price range as well as good schools. In Dallas itself the Preston Road area, Walnut Hill and Highland Park if your pockets are pretty deep. Wherver you decide...get air conditioning! Think North Dallas not South. north dallas If you want to get away from all the concrete and shopping malls, north Oak Cliff is a pretty cool place. It's just a few minutes from downtown, and its Bishop Arts District is a nice place to eat and window shop. Apartment rents are more reasonable than, say, Uptown or anyplace downtown. And if you like wildlife, you're not too far from the Trinity River. My wife and I used to live in an apartment in north Oak Cliff, and we regularly saw hawks, owls and cranes from our apartment window and balcony. |
