What's the best shortcut between San Antonio and Dallas? |
Travel Info I-35 is a nightmare during the holidays. 281 is a little too slow and out of the way for me. The Bastrop route from 21 to 95 seemed promising until I realized just how many turns I had to make. Travel Tips Southwest Airlines Others I used to live in S.A. Take 35 past Austin, turn east at Round Rock on 79 to 6 north to 45 north: http://www.texas-map.org/texas-road-map.... While you haven't specified where in each city you want to start and stop, here are a couple of "center-to-center" options. Shortest (mileage): San Antonio, up I-35 to Dallas Shortest (time): depending on construction, the other suggestion (I-35 to hwy 79 to I-45) may be quicker. Many options are more scenic, but few would save you any time or mileage. No getting around I-35 being the most direct route. Best thing to do is drive late at night or early moring hours to avoid traffic. |
