Help with Dallas Suburbs? |
Travel Info I'm moving to Dallas from Mississippi in January to live with my boyfriend. We want to buy a house next year and I'm wondering which suburbs to look into. He works downtown, so we don't want anything more than a half hour commute. I have a four year old daughter, so the school system has to be good. He wants to stay downtown (he lives right above mockingbird now), but I worry that the house prices are too high. Any suggestions about good suburbs or possibly negating my worries? Any help would be appreciated, and please be as detailed as possible. Travel Tips There are good schools (private and public DISD) in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. Some of the housing (the "M" streets) want a fortune for nothing, but many of the neighborhoods around White Rock Lake would suit your requirements. The plus is that there is easy access to DART rail from these neighborhoods. In addition, it's a very pretty neighborhood with hills and trees. I am giving you the website of a realtor who specializes in this neighborhood. Source(s): www.lakewoodrealtor.com Other Travel Tips I can only offer a couple of suggestions. I haven't lived in Dallas county since I was a kid (Denton, Plano, Allen more recently). But Carrollton seems like a nice area. Also some nice housing in the area around Midway Road (closer to town). Hopefully you can get some better suggestions. My best suggestion would be to check with a Dallas realtor. They can give you the best suggestions even if you don't buy a house. http://www.realtor.com/regional_real_est... You have to be really careful with the neighborhoods that you choose. Carrollton has some okay neighborhoods but also some very rundown areas and areas that you want to avoid. Plano or Frisco are very nice neighborhoods. Also, Addison is great. Richardson seems to be the place where you can get the most house for the lowest cost nowadays. I know several people that have bought there recently. Las Colinas, Frisco, Plano are the best when it comes to school district. Keller is very nice but it is quite a drive to reach Dallas. The school district is simply divine. Try looking at Midcities.. such as Bedford, Hurst, North Richland Hills, or Keller. Lots of good school districts. |
